Rare, all-original survivor; Near-showroom condition
1993 Yamaha XJ600SE Seca II
General:
Bikes like this are getting harder and harder to find in this condition. 12000 original, non-track miles. This is arguably one of the best, all- around middleweight motorcycles ever produced by Yamaha. The air-cooled 599cc engine and slick -shifting, close ratio six speed gearbox are an absolute joy to ride. The suspension is firm, while remaining compliant over bumps. The disk brakes are well-modulated and powerful. The handling is quick without being "twitchy" . The riding position is between sport-touring and standard, leaning to standard. This is a bike that a novice motorcyclist can feel comfortable on, while at the same time providing an experienced sport-rider much to appreciate. I wish I could keep this motorcycle for myself; I fear I may never come across such a clean and well-maintained specimen of this great model again.
Mechanical Condition:
This bike is exceptionally good mechanical condition. It starts easily and and runs flawlessly throughout its powerband. It has newish sport-touring tires and the chain and sprockets look in good shape. I would happily and confidently take this bike on a multi-state, backroad ride tomorrow, if I had the opportunity. The exhaust is stock and the carburetors have their original jetting. All lights, instruments and controls work as they should.
Cosmetic Condition:
As you can see from the photos, the bike is also in exceptional cosmetic condition. It shows no eveidence of ever having been dropped, or for that matter, ever having been left outside overnight. The deep Metallic Teal is all original and shows the exceptional care it has received from its past owners over the years. The bikes round tube, double-cradle frame is also color matched and equally well-preserved.. The factory, color-matched sport fairing doesn't provide much weather protection, but it does enhance the bikes riding comfort at speed, by directing the wind blast over the rider's torso without sacrificing forward vision. The factory paint is beautifully complemented by the original grey-colored saddle, which is in like-new condition.
Modifications:
As far as I can tell the bike is in completely original, unmolested condition. The only addition being the Yamaha accessory luggage rack, which is easily removeable and blends in nicely with the bike.
Whether you are a novice rider or an an experienced corner carver, the Seca II
for sale here will make an excellent and reliable mount, that you will not
quickly tire of. It will make a great commuter and weekend ride and is plenty comfortable for the occasional tour. This is a great bike for a very reasonable price. $1895.00
